Christmas 2010

I had to post a picture of what Santa brought the boys this year. Every time we asked Landon what he wanted for Christmas from Santa he would happily reply "SKITTLES!!" I talked him into asking Santa for a choo-choo as well. : ) It was so cute though. David was really excited that all he wanted was candy. What an easy boy! Too bad it doesn't last. ; )

Santa also brought Landon his other favorite treat--Bubble Gum!! What a naughty Santa......

This present was from David's parents. I thought it was so cute. Tanner must have liked it because he is smiling!! : )

Santa also spoiled Mom and Dad. He brought us a flat screen TV. We have wanted one for years, but just couldn't rationalize spending the money. Well let me tell you how surprised I was! He left a note that said I was in control of the remote. Too bad David hasn't listened to Santa on that one!!

Surprise!!

1st Week Home

This is the color our little Tanner turned the 1st week home. He turned into a lovely Oompa-Loompa orange. He was slightly jaundiced at the hospital, so I followed up with his pediatrician 2 days after discharge which was a Wednesday. His level was up to 17. The doctor told me to just keep a close eye on him and call him Monday to tell him how he did. Really? 5 days later for another check?! It was Thanksgiving the next day, and they would be closed on Friday as well. Well, by Saturday he was no longer yellow, but orange and not waking up to eat so I took him to urgent care. He was up to 22 and the doctor said a homecare agency would meet me at my house to get the bilirubin lights set up.

Look at that color compared to my 2 other pasty boys!!

So this is where my little babe laid for the next couple of days. We had to make trips to Layton every 12 hrs for more bili checks. My poor little TJ's heels looked like pin cushions! It was sad not being able to hold my newborn--but from the pictures you can tell he did really well! He loved it in those warm lights.

He is now healthy, and we are enjoying getting to know our newest little miracle!

TANNER'S STORY

The entire week before Tanner was born I was trying all sorts of different things to get my labor going. I had been having Braxton Hicks contractions since I was 16 weeks pregnant, and I was so done with being pregnant!! The doctor tried stripping my membranes, but I was only dilated to 1 and that didn't work. I was so disappointed! (I went into labor the next day with Landon after my membranes were stripped) So I started trying other "natural" ways-- you know, like jumping on the trampoline, moving heavy furniture, eating pineapple, the thing that gets you pregnant.... you name it! Nothing was working!! On Friday night, after I got off work I decided I was going to try Castor Oil. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I drank it at 9 pm, and 6 hrs later I was having strong contractions, especially in my back. I tried to wake David up to tell him I was in labor, but he just rolled over and went back to sleep!! I hadn't packed for the hospital yet because I really didn't think I was going to have this baby until I was 40 wks along, so I started throwing things in a bag and getting everything all ready to head to the hospital. I really wasn't sure if I was in labor because it was so different than my experience with Landon. The back pain felt the same but only on my right side, and the contractions were irregular. I called the hospital at 7 am to ask them if I should come in or not. They told me to drink a lot of water and take a warm bath (both things I had been doing all night), and if the pain stayed the same or intensified to come into the hospital. By 10 am I was ready to go. The pain was getting worse, and I was stressed because the contractions were so irregular. I would have them 2 min apart for an hr, then they would slow down to 5-6 min. After dropping off Landon at his babysitters (she was amazing and watched him for 24 hrs!! and he did great--I was so worried he was going to fall apart without me.... he didn't even care!) Anyways, after checking in at the hospital the nurse checked me and I was only dilated to 2+! I thought I would be at least a 4-- it was going to be a long day. The nurse thought I might have a kidney infection because the pain was only on the right side of my back, but after connecting me to the monitors it showed I was having contractions non-stop! So I was going to stay and have a baby!!! Here is a breakdown of day......
10:30 am-- checked into the hospital
11:30 am-- on-call physician broke my water, still dilated to 2
12:00 pm--epidural in! magical stuff : ) This epidural wasn't as easy as my 1st. Since my contractions were non-stop I was having a hard time holding still for the anesthesiologist. It was the most intense pain I have ever felt!! After the epidural the nurse checked me again and I was dilated to 4. So glad I dilated 2 cm while trying to hold still curled up in a ball position! : ( Also, my blood pressure dropped to 59/27. I felt horrible! I was on my way to passing out, but they rushed the anesthesiologist in and he gave me some Ephedrine in my IV and a shot in my leg. It helped me really quick. I was so relieved!
2:00 pm-dilated to 5, and stayed this way for the next 9+ hrs!!
11:00 pm-- My doctor came in to "assess" me and he tried talking me into a c-section. He said that because I hadn't dilated at all in the past 9 hrs that most likely I wouldn't be able to have this baby naturally. I was so disappointed and freaking out! I had not planned on a c-section, and I wasn't ready for that mentally or physically! We told the doctor we wanted to discuss it privately and decide what we needed to do. David offered a prayer (mostly for comfort for me) but also for some direction as to what we needed to do. We both felt like we needed to wait until midnight to see if I was progressing at all. The doctor was annoyed with our decision. I know he just wanted to cut me open, take the baby, and go home and get in his bed! (I need a new OB by the way). Well, by midnight I was dilated to 10! The nurse left the Pitocin running for another 1/2 hr just so the contractions would bring Tanner down a little bit more. I was still carrying him so high! I started pushing just after 12:30 and by 12:43 our little miracle arrived! That was such a relief to only push 5 or 6 times.

Here's the naked belly the day before I delivered. I was on my way to work, and David came rushing down the stairs with the camera telling me we needed a picture "cause you never know when that baby is coming!"

"Patiently" waiting......

My guy getting all checked out! He isn't as chubby as we thought, he just had a lot of swelling to his face.

Proud Papa cuddling his newest little man.

The 3 of us looking so tired!!!

1st glimpse of my little guy. My favorite moment......

Janet brought Landon to meet his new little brother on Sunday. He is so cute with him. He loves holding Tanner, and cuddling him. I am so excited for them to grow up together! I love my boys so much!!
Giving him kisses!

1st time holding him. He had a little grin on his face the entire time! So cute. : )

Heading home!! Yeah! : )

I am so grateful I have this precious little baby in my life. He is such a joy and blessing to us. We are adjusting to life with 2 little ones and are having such a fun time watching Landon interact with his brother. We are so blessed!

BIRTHDAY BOY!!

The CUTEST 2 year old around!
The Decorations!

Our little man turned 2 on the 16th and we had a big party to celebrate. We had friends and family join in on the fun. Landon had fun with all his cousins and neighbor buddies. As sad as I am to see my little baby grow up, I am so grateful he is a healthy and happy boy. He is so fun and lights up our life!! He is constantly learning new things. His favorite thing to say (besides MINE!) is "Mom (or Dad), watch!" He loves to show off. It is so adorable. I love that he is proud of his little accomplishments throughout the day. : )

Our little fam....

Ready to dig in!!

Love this pic.... my little buddy is so cute!

We had to help him open up all the gifts. He really wanted to play with each one after unwrapping it! He couldn't understand why we put it to the side and started unwrapping more toys. : )

This is the closest he would get to the pinata. He wasn't quite sure he liked all the attention!

Daddy was able to finish off the pinata.... but I think he was cheating!!!

We love you birthday boy!!

Landon was soooo hyper in sacrament today (I think he had too much sugar yesterday for his birthday.) He kept playing peek-a-boo with a little girl who was sitting 7 rows ahead of us. So Daddy took him out to roam the hallways for a bit. Long story short, he tripped on his new shoes and fell head first into a door stopper!! I am so glad it had a rubber tip instead of just a metal one. Dave came into the chapel to show me, and Landon screams out "Mommy, Ouchy!!" I heard a lot of people giggle then gasp.... Poor little man! As soon as one head wound is almost healed, he injures himself again!!

Showing off the lovely goose-egg!

He is still all smiles with Dad!!

Landon loves torturing Dad!! He thinks it is so funny. ( I have to agree, it gives Dad a taste of his own medicine!)

And I thought going to church was a good thing to do........
; )

OH THE JOYS OF MOTHERHOOD!

On Sunday mornings I often put Landon in the tub to play while I get ready. I do this for 1 main reason: He is confined and can only establish to make the bathroom floor a watered down mess instead of destroying the entire house. I can usually get ready in less time (which is needed on a frantic Sunday morning) because I am not chasing him. Well on this blessed Sabbath day as I was applying my mascara Landon jumps up from the water and yells "Macie poopie!!" I tell him Macie is outside going potty and to sit back down. He continues to yell "Macie poop, Macie poop!" He looks completely freaked out and will not sit down. As I walk over to see what he is talking about I notice a lovely little turd floating in the water. And no, this is NOT Macie poop. This is Landon poop. So I go to drain the tub and notice a whole lot more---EVERYWHERE!!! This just made my frantic Sunday morning even better, and yes the tub still needs a little clorox scrubbing action! On a positive note- there weren't any dirty diapers to change in church today! : )

For Lizzy and Jen!!

A couple of friends were requesting another belly shot, so this is me at 30 weeks!! I can't believe I only have 10 weeks left (hopefully a little less)! This pregnancy has just flown by. I am still feeling really good, just starting to get a little more uncomfortable at night. Who needs sleep anyways?!?! And YES I know my belly is massive and I have a long ways to go!! People have already said "It looks like you are ready to have that baby!" Um, THANKS!
Sorry for the pixelated image! My camera has died. : (

I have FINALLY uploaded some pics from our Summer. I have been such a slacker!! I wanted to keep everything in order, so scroll down to see some of our "exciting" adventures. (There are even some dating back to April! Wow, can you say PROCRASTINATE?)

Fun at Janet's!!

Landon's babysitter Janet sent these pics to me. They are too cute. I know Landon is well taken care of when I am at work. I am sooo grateful to have someone like her. She loves my little Landon, and has been such a blessing to us.

This was after his "accident." He is all nice and scabbed up!

Landon LOVES to play in water. His favorite thing this summer has been to get the hose and squirt us! I need to get video of this. We will be playing in the backyard, and out of nowhere he has turned the water on and we get soaking wet! Little TURD! : )

Landon vs Sidewalk

I got off work early today so I decided to head home and take a little nap before picking up Landon from the babysitter (this is my normal routine when I work). He had only been there for an hour so I knew he wouldn't want to come home yet. I wake up to find that Janet (his sitter) had called me 3 times! I started freaking out thinking the worst possible things. I called her right away and she didn't help my panic any. She said "Jamie, Landon is hurt!" She didn't go into much detail just saying his face looks really bad. So I am grabbing my keys, running out the door and totally freaking out. I wasn't paying attention and drove over the neighbors bike (luckily no child was on it!) I get to the sitters to find this poor little boy!! He was running into the house to get a popsicle and tripped over his own feet. His face caught the fall. Janet felt horrible and kept apologizing. She called me tonight to check up on him. She is so sweet and loves Landon! Needless to say he received a dose of Motrin before bedtime........

24 WEEK "BUMP"

Thursday, August 12, 2010

One for the Ducky, and one for Landon

We have a cute little pond near our house with very well fed Ducks. Landon loves to walk to the park and feed them. They always seem to eat what we bring, even though I know they get fed all day long with all the kiddos in this neighborhood. Landon was so funny with them. He would throw a few pieces of bread out to them and put a few pieces in his mouth. He would just laugh every time they would fight over it.

Sunday Afternoon Hike

I am trying to catch up on this blog. We have done some fun things this summer that I need to post! I am horrible at scrapbooking things, so this is the only way I am going to remember what we did! Anyways, one Sunday after church we decided to go on an afternoon hike. We found a place in West Kaysville that is so beautiful. You hike up to a 40 ft waterfall. I wasn't sure I would make it being 6 months pregnant and OUT OF SHAPE, and was terrified I would fall, or David would fall with Landon on his back. Dave kept telling me not to worry, that we would be fine!! I am glad I listened, because the waterfall was amazing! Landon was so content to just hang out in the pack and watch everything-- especially Macie playing in the water all along the way!
Landon exploring the creek and cooling off with his buddy, Macie!

We kee saying we want to go on a hike every weekend, but never seem to get around to it! Hopefully we will get a few more in before it starts getting cold!

Really wanting to get rid of this......

Any suggestions?!
