Thanks Grandma!!

My mom stayed with us this past week and helped out with Landon. She left this afternoon and I was so sad to see her go. She only lives 1.5 hrs away, but I'm not sure I can do this whole mommy thing without her. She took charge of the cooking and cleaning, and she also helped me catch a little shut eye in the middle of the night if Landon wasn't quite ready to fall back to sleep. I am so grateful she was able to take time off work and help out. Thanks again Mom--you are the greatest!!

David has been begging me to post this picture of little Landon, he thinks he looks like a cool dude with his faux hawk : )

Our Cute Little Man!

Happy Birthday Landon!!

We welcomed Landon Robert into our family on October 16th at 11:52 pm. He weighed in at 8 lbs 6 oz, and was 20.5 inches long. He is healthy and everything is going great. We came home from the hospital yesterday and survived our first night at home!

After being in labor for 13 hours at home we decided it was time to get to the hospital. My contractions were coming five minutes apart and I was so ready for that epidural! On our way to the hospital my contractions slowed down to 8 minutes apart so I told David to turn the car around and go home. He talked me into getting something to eat and see if the contractions would pick up again. After a delicious meal at KFC my contractions were back at 5 minutes apart and coming with a vengeance!! I was having horrible back labor, so I told David to put a foot on it and get me to the hospital. We were checking in a couple of minutes later, and within the hour I had my epidural--Thank you Dr. Matthews!!!!

Post-Epidural picture---notice the smile:)

The doctor came in and broke my water and my labor continued to progress. I was getting very anxious to meet our little man. By 10:15 pm I was finally dilated to 10 and ready to push, but one little problem....our little guy was posterior which meant I was going to have to work EXTRA hard. The doctor tried to turn him manually with no luck, so I pushed for 1 hour and was able to bring him down a little further. The doctor tried again to turn him and was successful!! So, about 50 minutes later Landon arrived. It was the most amazing feeling in the world! I just cried and cried. I couldn't believe our little family of two had just expanded. I was so overwhelmed with joy (and still am) with the fact of becoming a mother.

Here are the proud parents!!

AND LABOR BEGINS.......

So my contractions started about 3 1/2 hours ago and of course I am too anxious/nervous/terrified to get any sleep through this early part of labor. Did I mention I am terrified?! We are just waiting until they become closer together before we venture on to the hospital (hopefully this is the real thing, and not false labor)! I will definitely keep you posted when our little guy finally decides to make his entrance into the world! : )
